Terms of service
Last updated September 22, 2026
The short version: use GradeGem to study and stay organized, pay for what you buy, don't cheat with it, don't abuse it. The long version is below, written so you can actually read it.
1. Who we are
GradeGem is made by LOOT FRUIT LLC. When these terms say "we" or "us", that's who they mean. When they say "you", they mean the person with the account. We are not affiliated with Instructure, Canvas LMS, or your school. Legal notices go to legal@gradegem.com; for help with your account, use support@gradegem.com.
2. What the product is
GradeGem is a browser extension plus a web account. The extension reads the Canvas pages you can already see and organizes them: due dates, grades, alerts. Paid features add AI study help: summaries, practice tests, tutoring, the Solver, and drafting assistance.
Two things it will never do, by design: it never submits coursework for you, and it never acts inside Canvas on your behalf. You review, you edit, you click submit. There is no setting that changes this.
3. Who can use it
GradeGem is for high school and college students aged 13 and up. You need to be at least 13 to have an account. GradeGem is not directed at children under 13, we do not knowingly collect their data, and if we learn an account belongs to a child under 13 we delete it. The first time you sign in on a device we ask for your birth month and year; that check happens on your device, and the date is not sent to us or stored. The device only remembers that the question was answered, so you are not asked again there.
If you are under 18, or under the age of majority where you live, you may use GradeGem only with the permission of a parent or guardian, and they agree to these terms for you. Please go over them together.
Purchases by anyone under 18 need a parent or guardian's permission, and you may only pay with a payment method you are allowed to use. A parent or guardian who would rather pay directly can email billing@gradegem.com.
4. Academic integrity is on both of us
We built the guardrails: AI features stay locked per course until you confirm that course allows AI help at the level you pick, the Solver explains method before answer, and anything that looks like a live timed quiz or proctored exam is declined server-side unless you explicitly confirm the instructor permits AI on that assessment. That confirmation is recorded permanently, and a false confirmation is on you.
The rest is on you. Your syllabus and your school's honor code are the actual rules, and you are responsible for following them. If you tell us a course permits AI help and it doesn't, that consequence is yours. Using GradeGem to violate your school's academic integrity policy is a breach of these terms.
5. Accounts and payments
Subscriptions bill monthly through Stripe until you cancel. Credit packs, semester plans and Exam Week are one-time purchases. Prices can change, but never mid-cycle for a subscription you already have. Refunds are covered in the refund policy.
Credit costs vary by task. Each Solver request has a fixed credit cost for its kind: 1 credit for an ordinary solve, and more for larger kinds such as a whole page or a video. The cost is shown before you solve. Credits pay for Solver requests; Tutor and the study tools require a Study or Full Assist plan. Course permission is still required. Each paid solve includes 3 follow-up or Check questions about it for 24 hours, and practice questions based on it are included within daily limits.
Monthly credits expire at the end of the paid invoice period and do not roll over. Each successful monthly payment supplies a new allowance. Pack credits and semester plans last to the term end shown at checkout; if fewer than 21 days remain in the current term when you buy, the expiry moves to the end of the following term. Semester credits do not replenish monthly. Exam Week credits and Study access last seven days from successful payment.
Existing purchases retain their original entitlements, allowances and expiry. Credits from packs, plans, referrals and promotions share one balance; each grant keeps its own expiry and the soonest-expiring credits are used first. Your account shows your feature access and credit balance.
You may use your account on any number of devices and let friends use your available credits. Everyone using the account shares its plan, credit balance and daily allowances. You are responsible for activity on your account. Reselling access or scripting against our API is not allowed and can end the account.
6. Fair use
Solver, Study and Full Assist features have server-side daily limits so exam-week demand from a few accounts can't degrade the product for everyone. The limits are generous for a person and hostile to a bot, which is the point.
7. Your data
Course data is stored on your device. Optional desktop sync sends limited coursework metadata to your account, and material you explicitly submit to AI features is processed as described in our privacy policy. Your account data is yours to export at any time, on any plan. We do not sell data, period. The details live in the privacy policy, which is part of these terms.
8. What we promise, and what we can't
We work hard to keep GradeGem accurate and available, but it is provided "as is". Canvas changes its pages without telling us, AI models make mistakes, and grades computed from scraped data can be wrong or stale. Always treat Canvas itself as the source of truth for anything that matters. Double-check AI answers before you rely on them; the confidence label exists for a reason.
To the extent the law allows, our total liability for anything related to the product is capped at what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect damages, or for academic outcomes of any kind.
9. Ending things
You can cancel any time, from Manage billing on your account page or by emailing support, and keep access through the period you paid for. You can delete your account, which cancels any subscription on it and removes your personal data as described in the privacy policy. We can suspend or close accounts that breach these terms, with a refund of unused paid time unless the breach was abuse or fraud.
10. Changes to these terms
If we change these terms in a way that matters, we'll tell you by email or in the product before it takes effect. Continuing to use GradeGem after that means you accept the change.
